B.L.A.Z.E. - Bright Leaders Advancing in Science & Engineering. Our mission is to bridge the digital divide and create opportunities that will propel the next generation of innovators, leaders, and change-makers. This year, we are launching bi-monthly, one-week STEAM camps, with an intensive three-week summer camp in July, and we need your support to make this vision a reality.
These camps are about more than just teaching app development, graphic design, or digital content creation. They are about equipping and empowering young people—especially those in underrepresented communities—with the tools to compete in today’s evolving technological landscape. Our hands-on curriculum includes:
• App Development: Building mobile applications from the ground up
• Graphic Design: Mastering the principles of design, typography, and digital tools
• Web Development: Learning the basics of HTML, CSS, and website creation
• Digital Content Creation: Producing impactful videos, animations, and multimedia content
• UI/UX Design: Creating user-friendly, visually engaging digital interfaces
Mississippi’s youth deserve access to high-quality STEAM education, and we are committed to providing that access. But we’re going even further. We’ve partnered with a local urban farm to provide fresh, healthy meals for our campers while integrating lessons on how technology is revolutionizing agriculture and sustainability. This collaboration will provide campers with hands-on learning experiences, such as:
• Farm Visits: Exploring how modern technology is reshaping agriculture
• Nutrition & Sustainability Education: Understanding the importance of healthy eating and sustainable practices
• Community Impact: Supporting the local economy by sourcing fresh, locally-grown food.
B.L.A.Z.E. Focus
SCIENCE
Our science component ignites curiosity by allowing students to explore hands-on experiments, chemistry, biology, physics, and agricultural science. Through interactive projects like soil testing, hydroponics, and sustainability studies, youth learn how science impacts food production and the environment. The goal is to inspire future scientists and agricultural innovators by making complex topics engaging, accessible, and fun.
TECHNOLOGY
Focused on digital literacy and innovation, our technology component teaches students coding, app development, robotics, and cybersecurity fundamentals. Participants gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools, preparing them for high-demand careers in the tech industry. By fostering creativity and technical skills, we empower youth to become digital creators rather than just consumers.
ENGINEERING
Our engineering component encourages problem-solving by challenging students to design, build, and test solutions to real-world issues. Through projects in mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering, participants develop a strong foundation in STEM principles while fostering teamwork and innovation. The hands-on approach builds confidence and a deeper understanding of how engineering shapes the world.
ART
Blending creativity with technology, our digital arts component introduces students to graphic design, animation, video editing, and digital storytelling. Using industry-standard tools, youth learn to express their ideas visually while gaining skills in media production and content creation. This program nurtures artistic talent while preparing students for careers in digital design and entertainment..
MATHEMATICS
Our math focus transforms numbers into exciting challenges, helping students develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Through games, puzzles, and real-world applications, participants see how math is used in coding, engineering, finance, and everyday life. By making math fun and approachable, we help students build confidence and a deeper appreciation for its role in the modern world.
